Purpose: Course objectives will offer basic principles for team cooperation and effectiveness of short term mission volunteers. Safety precautions and health guidelines, as well as travel tips and cultural considerations, will also be covered. Some ideas for sponsorship and special project funding will be explored.

Instructor: Carl E. Schell has worked as a youth pastor (2 years) and founded an inner city youth outreach and family feeding program (10 years) in the States, has worked in directing/leading missions in Peru since 1992, and recently was based in Costa Rica. He is the founder/director of the Amazon Basin Benevolent Association, INC. of New Smyrna Beach , Florida since 1994 (also known as ABBA Latin Missions) and has led over 35 mission TEAM trips to Peru . He started out as a long-term missionary, but soon found his niche in supervising mission activities in person and by directing native staff by internet and by leading short-term mission teams. Leading teams of varied sizes, he successfully mixed nationals and visiting international volunteers in medical/dental/outreach campaigns (certain native indian villages were first time visits by Americans. He has traveled six times to Europe to many countries, speaks fluent Spanish, and is learning German and some French. Degrees include a B.A. in Theology, three course certifications in personality profiling and counseling, some master's level studies in Theology, Red Cross Disaster Assessment/Logistics/Family Emergency Services courses and past participation as an officer/member in numerous state/local ministerial committees and in various evangelistic crusade committees and related counseling activities.
